Kids Picture Book Review:
Winslow seems genuinely pleased with what he accomplishes, even when his robe and beard are looking a little worse for wear by the end of the day. There is something very relatable about that. Trying something new can be awkward, messy, and sometimes tiring, but it can also be a lot of fun . . .
At its heart, Winslow the Wizard is a cheerful story about trying new things, learning from mistakes, helping others, and discovering that you don't always need the easiest solution. Winslow's day without magic certainly isn't perfect, but by the time he sits down to enjoy a well-earned piece of cake, he has learned quite a bit . . .
Overall, Winslow the Wizard is a sweet and accessible story for young children, particularly those who are learning to become more independent and trying unfamiliar things for themselves. Winslow's messy adventures give the book plenty of charm, while the underlying message is a good one: you don't have to be perfect at something to enjoy learning how to do it. - Reviewed by Mae for Kids Picture Book Review

Indies Today: 5 Star Badge!
Conceived by mother-daughter team Jessica and Lucy Egan, Winslow the Wizard is an energetic story that teaches young readers that it’s okay to step out of your comfort zone. It could get messy, and you may not get everything right the first time, but it can also be a lot of fun. For kids, the lesson is clear: accidents will happen, but just keep trying . . .
It only takes a few pages to conclude that Winslow might be the world’s most adorable wizard. The tidy, colored-pencil artwork brings him to life and captures his happy little neighborhood in vivid detail. Winslow lives in an alphabet town where the buildings are giant letters, each representing its occupant or purpose. It’s not hard to imagine how much children will enjoy guessing who might live in each letter-shaped home . . .
The artwork is delightful, and the lessons for children are even more meaningful . . .
Written and drawn with humor, messiness, kindness, and sprinkles, Winslow the Wizard is a heartwarming picture book that shows young readers how much fun there can be in trying something new. - Reviewed by Nicky Flowers for Indies Today
